Leopold Thanickal Jose

Since joining Galadari, Leopold Jose has specialised in and advised clients on real estate disputes and related activities, offshore related transactions and incorporation of free zone entities. He is also highly experienced in dispute resolution methods including litigation and arbitration, with a multitude of experience in both areas.

He routinely advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters and has represented the interests of high-profile clients in arbitration proceedings at various forums such as ICC London and the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC). His client list is varied and includes a renowned multinational jewelry group, multinational oil and gas products manufacturers, multinational automobile servicing product manufacturer, local foreign exchange company, leading local steel design and fabrication company as well as IT solutions companies.

Leopold was part of the team advising the Government of one of the Emirates in the UAE on drafting their real estate laws and setting up a data center. He was also on the team who drafted the legal manual for the Dubai Airport Authority. Leopold has very recently been advising a well-known GCC ruling family on setting up an FZ LLC and procuring a hotel administration office license in TECOM.

One of Leopold’s real strengths is that he keeps abreast of the latest rules and regulations of various free zones and government authorities, which is crucial to the firm’s clients. Further, he routinely advises clients on the setting up of onshore and offshore free zone entities.

As well as in the UAE, Leopold advises clients on their multijurisdictional matters in various GCC countries and has an excellent working knowledge of the laws in various GCC countries. In this regard, he ties up with local law firms in the respective country and regularly liaises with local firms on behalf the firm’s clients.
