Mahmood is a criminal law expert and litigator, who has an excellent working relationship with police and public prosecutors. His criminal practice focuses on the whole spectrum of crimes from high-level embezzlement, fraud, breach of trust, and theft to drunk driving, and drug and customs offenses. More recently Mahmood has been handling the firm’s cybercrime cases, including cyber fraud and cyber defamation.
His role within the Corporate and Commercial team allows him to deal with all issues that a UAE company may inadvertently come up against; from drafting of contracts and various other labour and employment agreements through to contentious and non-contentious matters. Mahmood regularly advises on foreign investments and corporate structuring and restructuring and is often tasked with dealing with the liquidation of companies, inclusive of all the documentation and court attachments that are concerned with such a sensitive issue. Mahmood is also one of Galadari’s Free Zone experts and works closely with the labour department regarding establishing companies in the region.
Mahmood additionally has extensive real estate experience in representing investors against developers for subrogated claims and revoking contracts by court judgements. His civil court work is inclusive of precautionary attachment applications, commercial recovery suits and all related procedures.
Originally from Baghdad, Mahmood graduated with a Bachelor of Law Degree from Kirkuk University in 2002, where he then went on to have several successful years practicing law in Iraq. Mahmoud has received in 2018 a certificate of appreciation from Dubai Police for his hard work and continuous cooperation. In 2018, Mahmood authored a book titled “Organized Crimes” issued in 2018 and published by Dar Al Nahda Al Arabia Egypt & Dar Al Nahda Alelmiya UAE, the book is in Dubai Court bookstore and the Public Prosecution Store in Dubai.
