Galadari secures significant victory in DIAC arbitration
Galadari Advocates & Legal Consultants is delighted to announce that it had successfully represented the Claimant in an arbitration conducted under the Arbitration Rules of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC).
The dispute, governed by English law and seated in Dubai (mainland), concluded with an award amounting to tens of millions of US dollars in favour of the Claimant. The Tribunal also ordered the recovery of a majority of arbitration costs and legal fees and dismissed the Respondent’s counterclaims in full.
David Allen KC of 7 King’s Bench Walk and our own Rodrigo Carè (Senior Counsel) appeared at the final evidentiary hearing before the Tribunal of three leading English arbitrators, instructed by Sergejs Dilevka (Partner) and supported by Lauren Fredah (Associate) and Chloé Heydarian (Junior Associate), with Ed Osterwald of Osterwald Rathbone & Partners advising on quantum issues.
Sergejs Dilevka, Partner, commented:
“This matter demonstrates that Dubai now offers a fully developed infrastructure capable of handling disputes of the highest complexity, including those governed by English law, with seamless case management by DIAC, and hearings conducted in the world-class facilities of the DIFC Courts.”
This matter reflects Galadari’s experience in handling complex arbitration proceedings, including those governed by English law
